Lymphedema In-Home Care

The main symptom of Lymphedema is the persistent swelling, usually of the arm or leg. Home Health Aides providing Lymphedema in home care are trained to use compression stockings or wraps for the affected arm or leg, according to doctors’ instructions. To avoid complications, care providers are vigilant about the patient’s skin care and hygiene.

The care provider can assist patients with activities of daily living, such as:

  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Toileting
  • Personal hygiene
  • Transferring
  • Ambulating (walking)
  • Continence care and feeding (as needed by the patient and recommended by their physician)
  • Medication reminders
  • Run errands
  • Light housekeeping
  • Accompany to doctor’s appointments
  • Monitor for gross behavioral changes
  • Help to maintain safety
  • Passive exercises
  • Skilled care
